Bold & Beautiful Beauty Vlogger, Talia Joy, 13, Passes Away

The day Nat and I first saw one of Talia Joy Castellano’s beauty vlogs was during a show planning session over a year ago. We were looking for inspiration while we were searching for how we could pitch MTV and happened across her videos.

Young, flawless and bubbly, she had no hair on account of her cancer treatments, but, she didn’t need it. Her video descriptions said “Make-up is my wig!”.

She was striking.

We didn’t know Talia and we never had the chance to interview her, but in every video she shared her joie de vie and charm. Her makeup tutorials weren’t all that bad either!

She rocketed to fame, appearing on Ellen and growing a large offline fanbase for both her make up tutorials and for her courageous CancerVlogs. Cover Girl cosmetics released a picture of Talia as an honourary Cover Girl today upon news of her passing.

Talia, who suffered from two types of cancers, neuroblastoma and myelodysplastic syndrome, revealed her terminal diagnosis in March that her cancer had progressed to her right hip and her skull. She shares, “I’m a very strong person when it comes to dealing with what I’m being told, and taking it in very easily. But, basically there are not really a lot of options for treatment anymore.”

Immediately, fans rallied to show an overwhelming amount of support and subsequently raise awareness with trending hashtags like #prayersfortalia

No matter what, I always believed she was going to pull through.
RIP Talia. We’re going to miss your bubbly videos and infectious optimism.

The moment I realized I had forced all my friends to watch AfroSquad, I knew that talking about Internet culture was where I was meant to be. Between reddit, Nat&Marie and eating junk food, there's just enough time for my personal blog That is all. That is it. Oh. Instagram: Karmacake
