Daily 411: NSA Whistleblower, Edward Snowden’s Live Q&A Right Now on the Guardian

We talked about Edward Snowden and the NSA from a digital conspiracy angle last week on Nat&Marie’s podcast. Now, Edward Snowden’s answering questions live via The Guardian. Well, it’s not video, so we’re trusting in the journalistic integrity of The Guardian that the text being written is from Edward Snowden himself.

Hey, is there any metadata we can analyse up in this hizzouse?

Here’s my questions to Snowden. I’m obviously curious on whether or not he was reached out to by Chinese officials and if that influenced his decision. The timing, the lack of support for digital transparency in China, the existence of Chinese hacker armies, his choice of  safe house location and reasoning behind what he did, just doesn’t add up.

To me it seems inherently contradictory to seek refuge in a country that blocks whistleblowing websites like Wikileaks and doesn’t feel confident in the content of YouTube among its population. To me that raises a question on whether Edward Snowden was in contact with someone with Chinese interests.

The moment I realized I had forced all my friends to watch AfroSquad, I knew that talking about Internet culture was where I was meant to be. Between reddit, Nat&Marie and eating junk food, there's just enough time for my personal blog Karmacake.com. That is all. That is it. Oh. Instagram: Karmacake
