Ok, so being considered as the potential “next” Rebecca Black may not seem like a GREAT thing.
Although, if you recall, Black’s one-hit wonder “Friday” DID go from being an internationally mocked viral sensation to being appropriated into mainstream culture ultimately ending up in a Katy Perry music video, among other successes like international media coverage and even airtime on major radio stations worldwide.
Rebecca Black is one of the greatest viral video sensations of our time. So really….not such a bad comparison…is it?
But I think I would be sad if Tay Allyn made it to that level. This song’s cringe-worthy on a whole other level…at least Rebecca Black’s horribleness seemed wholesome and innocent, like an adorable and pathetic little penguin. Tay Allyn is….trying to hard? Is she ironic and therefore funny? If so, I’m not “getting” it.
According to the YouTube post, Tay Allyn is a 24-year-old BMI affiliated artist who has created a new breed of pop “that’s like Ke$ha without the sex, and Gaga without the avant garde.” (huh?).
They’re apparently pop songs about the mundane issues you face in everyday life…
She also wants you to know she was chosen by Justin Timberlake and MySpace as a top upcoming artist of 2013.
I just can’t believe this came out on July 16 and only has 146,000 views.
What do you think? Will this go viral and surpass the 1 million mark within the week?
Kudos to Rob for sharing this!
